Spring fly-in planning for April 4th 2015. Serve hamburgers and chicken wings. Plan to have the spring fly-in at Green Sea. Duane has confirmed that we're welcome back into the area. Rain day the following day.
Doug knows a guy with a balloon interested in finding a like-minded group. Doug is going to invite him to bring the balloon to Green Sea for the fly-in.
Doug will move his airplane into the new hanger soon. There is a ribbon cutting and cook-out on Friday, April 17 at 11:30. Everyone is welcome to participate (HYW).
Plans to meet up at Sun-n-fun and the best place to fly into. Zephyr Hills is reported as good service but may be difficult to get into.
The airport advisory board meet at the old Myrtle Beach terminal building, upstairs, on the second Wednesday each month. They have no power to direct any action but do make recommendations to those that can. The meeting is open to the public.
Watched a short video about compression testing. Followed by some discussion about correcting leaking valves without pulling cylinders.
Carl also mentioned a Lycoming engine AD to check the valve guide clearance at one half TBO. Then described the procedure for accomplishing the check.
Also, If you need to land in a pasture and you have a choice between horses or cows, take the cows. The cows couldn't care less that you are there, the horses are curious and will run out in front of you.
I don't know how we got to the conversation but we discussed the third class medical requirements.
Drone use and application for real estate and farming.
Doug mentioned that aircraft insurance can be changed ever day if need be and that the insurance cost changes dramatically between, flying, taxi, and setting in the hanger.
